Module 4
SLAM
In robotics, SLAM is the term given to Simultaneous Localization and Mapping algorithms. As the name suggests, this allows the robot to build a map of an unknown environment, as well as improving the map with new features over time. Localization refers to the robot determining its position in relation to the map, termed the global frame. This can be compared to a submarine using its radar sensor to continuously map the terrain of the ocean.
